Sofia really enjoys trying new foods

It's so sweet to see her excitement when she tries something new. She was so excited about the carrots and mush that we had a hard time getting her to just calm down and actually eat it.

An Afternoon on the Town

It's nice to get out of this house for a while; it's heaven to get back home.

This Family is Growing Like Wildfire

First Argus came along, then Fede came next. Sofia wasn't far behind and now Thomas is hot on Sofia's heels. Argus and I have no idea what hit us.

It's important to stay together...

It's around 9,100 kilometers from Seattle to Rome, or to put it another way, it's around 5,600 miles from Sofia to her nonna. That's pretty far, by most terrestrial standards. It doesn't feel quite as far when you can video-call on the internets and see each other face to face. For free. Hooray Skype.

Buon/Happy Compleanno/Birthday/St. Patrick's Day!

Sofia was so excited to make birthday cards for Nonna and Papi this morning. Notice how she wrote in all caps and used three exclamation points. It's really adorable how enthusiastic she gets, even if the pictures look a little hostage-y.

Half-forgotten memory cards

One of the peculiar things about memory cards is that they are constantly getting cheaper and their storage capacity is always going up. Yesterday's shiny new 256MB compact flash isn't so sexy beside a new 4GB card purchased at half the price, and so it gradually works its way to the back of the camera bag; like a half forgotten tomato in the musty hinterlands of a refrigerator drawer. Except in this case, rather than being brown, fuzzy mound of tomato-gone-wrong that requires a spatula and 409 to clean up - you find some forgotten pictures from a wonderful and pivotal life period. These were taken in late 2007 on a very fast train in Japan, although in the first two pictures it doesn't look like we're going all that fast.
